Our History: Back in 1981, when computers were the size of a desk, Alex Minassian started with a basic outline and framework for prescription dispensing software and hit the pavement. As he was knocking on doors and attempting to introduce computerization into local independent pharmacies here on Long Island, he was also working in the office to make the software more user friendly. In the beginning it was tough bringing in business and new accounts. Many folks were just not ready to embrace computers and were content with a paper-trail of prescriptions, customer data, and hand written or type-writer typed insurance company submissions.

As time went on and computers became more of a staple in the pharmacies, Datascan was evolving to provide its customers with software that was easy to use, and provided more than just a means to electronic claim adjudication. Fast forward almost 30 years later, and our company has evolved many times over. We support electronic RX prescribing, robots that dispense prescriptions, telephone re-fill requests, workflow management, medical office dispensaries, long term care prescription management, and the list goes on.

As times change our companies products have changed. Datascan assists our clients in running their businesses as efficiently as possible, while allowing their patients personalized service and modern day conveniences. As the baton is getting passed on, Alex’s son Kevin now runs the day to day operations of the company. He has a bright outlook for the future and spends much of his time looking into ways to enhance the products and services we offer our clients. We look forward to serving our clients for another 30+ years.
